Transitional (1971–1990) woodworking machines
This is when the old makers changed hands. Rockwell Manufacturing became Rockwell International in 1973, and one VintageMachinery.org history says many machines suffered from its cost-cutting. Rockwell sold Delta's machinery business to Pentair in 1984, Houdaille sold Powermatic in 1986, the same year Oliver filed for bankruptcy, and Powermatic started its imported Artisan line in 1988. Delta's 8-digit date-code serials arrived in 1982, and on those you can read the year and month straight off the plate.
