About

We help people buy used woodworking machines without getting caught out. Name the one you’re after, like a Delta Unisaw, a Powermatic 66, a Craftsman 113 contractor saw or an Oliver jointer, and there’s a page for it. Each one tells you the machine’s story, what it cuts, the motors it came with, what wears out, how to date it, how to move it and what to check before you buy.

Some buyers are setting up a first shop in the garage. Others want a heavier saw or a wider jointer than new money buys. What restorers know about these machines is scattered across old catalogs, parts lists, the VintageMachinery.org archive and forum threads, and a raw eBay search gives you none of it. So we keep 30 model pages in one place, write down the things that catch used buyers out (a three-phase motor in a house with no three-phase power, a missing fence or miter gauge, a cracked trunnion, a rusty table, a 600 lb machine with no plan to move it) and pick the listings we’d buy.

We don’t sell machines. No affiliate links. We earn nothing. We only recommend what we’d buy, and we’d rather you buy used. We run no analytics or tracking cookies, and we’re not affiliated with any machine maker. See how we work for how the pages are researched and our disclosure for how links, picks and photos work.

Arbor is part of allbutnew, a set of shops for secondhand gear. Got a machine to sell? The “Get an offer” link on every model page sends it to our woodworking tool expert, who replies by email.
