Plenty of basements had this Craftsman band saw, a 12 in two-wheel saw that turns into a belt sander. Emerson built it for Sears as the 113.24350, with manuals dated 1977 and 1987, and it followed a line of 12 in Craftsman saws going back to three-wheel King-Seeley models. Swap the blade for a platen and a sanding belt, set the tension knob to SAND, and you have a narrow belt sander. As a saw it runs the blade at about 2,700 feet per minute from a 1,725 RPM motor, and the manual insists on that motor speed only. It won't resaw. For curves, small parts and some sanding in a small shop, a complete one with good tires and both covers earns its bench space.

Most of these are the band saw-sander, and the sander side only works if the platen and a belt come with it, so ask about both. Sears called for a 1,725 RPM motor, so check there's one, plus both wheel covers and tires that aren't cracked. Plenty are listed, nearly all for pickup, mostly asking $150-230. The 113.248 tilt-head and the two-speed saw have no sander, and the $400 one is overpriced.
