An early green saw (Powermatic painted them green through 1981) with its fence on the rails and a starter box. It's 3 HP 220V three-phase, so budget for the converter.
Powermatic Model 66 10" 3HP Tilting Arbor Table Saw 220V 3PH
Powermatic · Table saw · 1965 to the 2000s
Every old cabinet saw argument has two sides, and the Powermatic 66 is the one that isn't a Unisaw. It first shows up in Powermatic's 1965 catalog, built in McMinnville, Tennessee, with a C-flange motor mount that kept the motor's weight off the arbor and a fence that ran on two tubular bars. Powermatic kept making it for decades, under Houdaille, Stanwich and then Jet, and the paint gives you a rough date. Early saws are green, 1980s and early 90s saws gold, and later ones mustard yellow. The fence changed too, from Positrack to Biesemeyer to Powermatic's own Accu-Fence by 1997. Powermatic advertised a one-piece trunnion and a saw far heavier than its main rival, and the 1998 catalog still said made in the USA. It's heavy and simple, so a complete one with its fence and a motor your shop can run will last a lifetime.

Should come with it
Hard to find if missing
Check the listing photos against these lists, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing fence, guard or motor should come off the price.
Powermatic says its made-in-USA parts are no longer made, so missing guards, inserts and fence parts are the real cost. Arbor bearings are standard sizes, and a three-phase motor in a single-phase shop is the most common surprise.
New to old iron? How to check a used woodworking machine covers runout, the table, bearings and the parts that go missing, and shipping a heavy machine covers freight, pickup and rigging it into the shop.
Buying guide
Most 66s are three-phase, which means a VFD or rotary converter on house power, and single-phase saws with a fence start at $2,495. So we'd buy the 5 HP three-phase saw with a Biesemeyer at $750 and budget for the converter. The $1,107 single-phase dealer saw has no fence. Ask for the motor plate and a video of the blade cranking to full height and 45 degrees. Powermatic gave 450 lb net with the motor, so bring a trailer.

5 HP three-phase 230/460V, titled with a 52 in fence that isn't fitted. Rusty top, a rag where the front handwheel goes. Confirm the $13.91 shipping.
