Walker-Turner started in Jersey City in the late 1920s and moved to Plainfield, New Jersey, in 1931. In 1934 it launched the 500, 700 and 900 series machines, and the 900 was its 15 in drill press. The six-spline spindle runs on four ball bearings, the quill travels 4 in, and the standard pulleys give 600 to 5,000 RPM, with a Jacobs chuck or a No. 1 Morse taper on the MT models. It came as a bench press, a floor press or a foot-feed model, and the 1939 restyle gave it its Art Deco look. The 1200 and 1300 series replaced it in 1952. The 20 in Walker-Turner is a different machine, the 1100 series.

Quill bearings wear and old wiring is often tired. Belt guards and the slow-speed pulley go missing, and an MT model needs its taper tooling.

Plenty are listed, but many titles just say Walker-Turner drill press, so check the photos for the actual machine. We'd start with the $390 floor press that shows its motor, or the dealer's 15 in bench model at $487.49 with the 900's 4 in stroke. Most private asks run $250-900 for pickup. The $795 press is 220 V three-phase, so it needs a VFD or converter. Ask for a video of the quill fed its full 4 in and a straight rod turning in the chuck.
